ODESSA, TEXAS/AUGUST 14, 2017 – ODESSA POLICE HAVE MADE TWO ARRESTS IN CONNECTION TO A BURGLARY THAT OCCURRED LATE SATURDAY EVENING IN CENTRAL ODESSA.

ON AUGUST 12, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 11:19AM, ODESSA POLICE RESPONDED TO 922 NORTH TOM GREEN AT 365 CONTRUCTION IN REFERENCE TO A BURGLARY IN PROGRESS. OPD OFFICERS MADE -CONTACT- WITH THE COMPLAINANT, WHO REPORTED THAT THEY OBSERVED TWO MALE SUBJECTS MAKING A FORCED ENTRY INTO THE BUSINESS.

BOTH SUSPECTS FLED ON FOOT BEFORE OFFICERS ARRIVED ON THE SCENE. OFFICERS SEARCHED THE AREA AND LOCATED THE FIRST SUSPECT IDENTIFIED AS JOE LUIS MADRID 51 YEARS OF AGE, IN THE 1000 BLOCK OF NORTH TOM GREEN. THE SECOND SUSPECT WAS LOCATED IN THE 1000 BLOCK OF NORTH GRANT, AND WAS IDENTIFIED AS FERMIN LOPEZ, 25 YEARS OF AGE.

A SHOW-UP WAS CONDUCTED AND TWO IDEPENDENT WITNESSES POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED LOPEZ AND MADRID AS THE BURGLARY SUSPECTS AND THEY WERE ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH BURGLARY OF A BUILDING “STATE JAIL FELONY.”

FERMIN LOPEZ AND JOE LUIS MADRID ARE CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN THE ECTOR COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER.

ON AUGUST 13, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45AM, ODESSA POLICE OBSERVED TWO MOTORCYCLES RACING WESTBOUND IN THE 1400 BLOCK OF EAST MURPHY. OFFICES ATTEMPTED TO CONDUCT A TRAFFIC STOP.  BOTH MOTORCYCLES REFUSED TO STOP, DISREGARD EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND SIRENS.

A 2012 YAMAHA MOTORCYCLE, BEING OPERATED BY PABLO QUINONEZ, 23 YEARS OF AGE, LOST CONTROL AND VEERED OFF THE ROADWAY BEFORE CRASHING NEAR MURPHY AND DIXIE. QUINONEZ WAS TRANSPORTED TO MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL WITH LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES.

A 2006 SUZUKI MOTORCYCLE OPERATED BY BRIAN TORRESDEY FLORES WAS NEAR THE CRASH SCENE.

BRIAN FLORES HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH RACING ON A HIGHWAY CAUSING SERIOUS BODILY INJURY “2ND DEGREE FELONY” AND EVADING ARREST WITH A MOTOR VEHICLE CAUSING SERIOUS BODILY INJURY 3RD   DEGREE FELONY, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE ECTOR COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER.

MIDLAND COUNTY/MIDLAND, TEXAS/AUGUST 13, 2017 – THE UNKNOWN SUBJECT THAT WAS SHOT MULTIPLE TIMES AFTER HE ASSAULTED TWO MIDLAND COUNTY DEPUTIES ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 12, 2017 HAS SUCCESSFULLY COME OUT OF SURGERY AT MIDLAND MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.

THE SUBJECT IS IDENTIFIED AS EDWIN JORDAN SOTO-CONTRERAS, A WHITE MALE, 20 YEARS OF AGE. CONTRERAS WAS INDENTIFIED THROUGH FINGERPRINTS THAT WERE SUBMITTED TO THE NORMAL DATA BASES BEGINNING WITH LOCAL AGENCIES, THEN THE STATE AND NATIONAL DATA BASES. IT WAS REVEALED THAT EDWIN JORDAN SOTO-CONTRERAS HAD BEEN ARRESTED IN THE STATE OF COLORADO.

AT APPROXIMATELY 4:50AM, SATURDAY AUGUST 12, 2017. THE MIDLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE RECEIVED A 911 CALL FROM THE KENT KWIK STORE LOCATED AT FM 1788 AND WEST HIGHWAY 158 IN REFERENCE TO A MALE SUBJECT TRYING TO GET IN TO VEHICLES. LATER, ANOTHER CALL CAME IN STATING THAT A NAKED MAN IN A COWBOY HAT WAS GOING IN AND OUT OF TRAFFIC APPROXIMATELY TWO MILES EAST OF THE KENT KWIK STORE, AND TRYING TO GET IN VEHICLES THERE.

A MIDLAND COUNTY DEPUTY ARRIVED ON THE SCENE AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE MALE SUBJECT. THE DEPUTY WAS IMMEDIATELY ATTACKED AND KNOCKED TO THE GROUND. THE MALE SUBJECT ENTERED THE DEPUTY’S VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE OFF BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL.  THE MIDLAND COUNTY DEPUTY DEFENDED HIMSELF AGAINST THE MALE SUBJECT USING PHYSICAL FORCE, AND WAS ABLE TO DEPLOY HIS TASER, BUT WITH NO EFFECT. IMMEDIATELY AN “OFFICER NEEDS HELP” CALL WAS PUT OUT BY THE DEPUTY. A SECOND DEPUTY ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND HE ALSO DEPLOYED HIS TASER WITH NO EFFECT ON THE MALE SUBJECT.  MPD OFFICERS BEGAN TO ARRIVE TO ASSIST THE DEPUTIES.

ECTOR COUNTY/WEST ODESSA, TEXAS – AUGUST 12, 2017-ON AUGUST 11, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:00AM, ON FRIDAY MORNING, ECTOR COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO THE 3500 BLOCK OF GREER AVE IN WEST ODESSA.

DURING THE INVESTIGATION, A DOMESTIC DISPUTE HAD OCCURRED REGARDING A VEHICLE. THE FEMALE SUBJECT GOT IN TO LEAVE AND THE VICTIM JUMPED ON THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AS SHE DROVE OFF WITH THE VICTIM HOLDING ON.

THE FEMALE SUBJECT STOPPED AND THE MALE VICTIM FELL OFF, CAUSING UNKNOWN INJURIES. HE WAS TRANSPORTED TO MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL.

NO ARREST HAS BEEN MADE, AND THE INCIDENT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.

AT APPROXIMATELY 4:50AM, SATURDAY AUGUST 12, 2017. THE MIDLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE RECEIVED A 911 CALL FROM THE KENT KWIK STORE LOCATED AT FM 1788 AND WEST HIGHWAY 158 IN REFERENCE TO A MALE SUBJECT TRYING TO GET IN TO VEHICLES. A SECOND DEPUTY ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND HE ALSO DEPLOYED HIS TASER WITH NO EFFECT ON THE MALE SUBJECT.  MPD OFFICERS BEGAN TO ARRIVE TO ASSIST THE DEPUTIES.

THE HIGHLY AGGRESSIVE SUBJECT TRIED TO ENTER A SEMI-TRUCK, BUT THE DRIVER OF THE SEMI-TRUCK QUICKLY LOCKED THE DOOR. THEN, THE MALE SUBJECT TURNED AND ATTACKED THE SECOND DEPUTY. THE DEPUTY SHOT THE MALE SUBJECT SEVERAL TIMES: THE WOUNDED SUBJECT BEGAN TO ELUDED DEPUTIES AND MPD OFFICERS.

THE MALE SUBJECT CLIMBED ON TOP OF A FLATBED SEMI-TRAILER, BUT WAS KNOCK TO THE GROUND BY OFFICERS AND CONTAINED. MIDLAND PARAMEDICS QUICKLY BEGAN TO TREAT THE SUBJECTS WOUNDS, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO MIDLAND MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOR SURGERY. THE IDENTITY OF THE SUBJECT IS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN.

THE TEXAS RANGERS ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE MIDLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.

STAFF AND EMPOLYEES FROM MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL, REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE CITY OF ODESSA, AND THE ODESSA COMMUNITY ENJOYED LUNCH WITH A WIDE SELECTION OF MENU ITEMS.

THIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS EVENT FEATURED MUSIC AND LOTS OF FOOD. FOOD TRUCK FRIDAY STARTED AT 11AM AND ENDED AT 2PM.

THE COMPLAINANT REPORTED THAT AN UNKNOWN MALE SUBJECT TOOK A COOL LIVING 600 BTU WINDOW AIR CONDITIONER FROM HEB (2501 WEST UNIVERSITY) AND EXITED THE STORE WITHOUT MAKING ANY ATTEMPT TO PAY. THE SUSPECT FLED THE SCENE IN A TRUCK.

ODESSA, TEXAS/AUGUST 10, 2017 – ODESSA FIRE AND RESCUE WERE STILL ON THE SCENE AT A HOUSE FIRE THAT STARTED EARLIER THIS EVENING.

ON AUGUST 10, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 8:10PM A WITNESS HEARD AN EXPLOSION, WHILE SHE WAS INSIDE HER HOME. THE WITNESS RAN OUT TO SEE BLACK SMOKE, THEN THE BLAZE.

SEVEN TO EIGHT UNITS OF ODESSA FIRE AND RESCUE ARRIVED QUICKLY TO THE SCENE.

THE HOUSE FIRE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.

ODESSA, TEXAS – ON AUGUST 9, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 3:24AM, ODESSA POLICE RESPONDED TO 1000 NORTH COUNTY ROAD WEST AT THE CASH AMERICA PAWN IN REFERENCE TO A BURGLARY. THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT TWO MALE SUBJECTS MADE FORCED ENTRY INTO THE BUSINESS AND WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FIREAMS DISPLAY THAT WAS EMPTY. THE SUSPECTS STOLE SERVERAL PURSES AND FLED THE SCENE IN AN UKNOW DIRECTION. THE SUSPECTS CAUSED APPROXIMATELY $2,000 IN DAMAGES.

THEN AT 3:31AM, ODESSA POLICE RESPONDED TO 1012 NORTH GRANT AT THE CASH AMERICA IN REFERENCE TO A BURGLARY. THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT TWO MALE SUBJECTS USED A VEHICLE TO MAKE FORCED ENTRY INTO THE BUSINESS. THE SUSPECTS STOLE: 11 RINGS, 7 WATCHES, 2 SILVER BRACELETS, 1 PANDORA BRACELET, 3 SILVER PENDANTS AND 4 KNIVES. THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY $4,500 IN DAMAGES TO THE FRONT GATE AND FRONT DOOR.

AT APPROXIMATELY 3:42AM, ODESSA POLICE RESPONDED TO 2701 NORTH DIXIE AT THE GUN SPORT LTD IN REFERENCE TO A BURGLARY IN PROGRESS. UPON ARRIVAL OFFICERS OBSERVED DAMAGE TO THE FRONT DOOR. THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT TWO SUSPECTS BROKE THE WINDOW, BUT WERE UNABLE TO MAKE ENTRY INTO THE BUSINESS. THE TWO SUSPECTS WERE LAST SEEN RUNNING WESTBOUND ON UNIVERSITY BEFORE TURNING ON TO KAY STREET.

THEN, AT APPROXIMATELY 3:52AM ODESSA POLICE RESPONDED TO 2021 NORTH COUNTY ROAD WEST AT HALFTIME LIQUORS IN REFERENCE TO A BURGLARY. THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED UKNOWN SUBJECTS MADE FORCED ENTRY INTO THE BUSINESS THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR. THE SUSPECTS HOOKED A ROPE OR CHAIN FROM A VEHICLE TO THE SECURITY GATE BEFORE TEARING IT OFF THE WALL. APPROXIMATELY $1,150 WORTH OF LIQUOR AND CIGARETTES WERE STOLEN BEFORE FLEEING THE SCENE.

IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE SAME SUSPECTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMMITING ALL FOUR BURGLARIES. BOTH SUSPECTS WERE WEARING GLOVES. THE FIRST SUSPECT WAS WEARING A CAMOFLAGE HOODIE AND THE SECOND SUSPECT WAS WEARING A BLACK OR BLUE SHIRT.

ON AUGUST 6, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 10:50PM, ODESSA POLICE RESPONDED TO THE 400 BLOCK OF LASSETER IN REFERENCE TO A DISTUBANCE. THE COMPLAINANT REPORTED THAT HER BOYFRIEND, IDENTIFIED AS JOHN ANTHONY BAEZA, 23 YEARS OF AGE, WAS INSIDE THE RESIDENCE TEARING THINGS UP.

OFFICERS OBSERVED SERVERAL BROKEN ITEMS AND HOLES IN THE WALL THAT APPPEARED TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY SOMEONE PUNCHING THE WALLS. WHEN OFFICERS MADE CONTACT WITH BAEZA HE WAS STANDING AT THE FRONT DOOR  HOLDING HIS 2-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER IN HIS RIGHT ARM. BAEZA IGNORED SERVERAL COMMANDS TO PUT HIS DAUGHTER DOWN; HE THEN BEGAN BACKING INTO HIS RESIDENCE.

BAEZA REFUSED TO LET GO OF THIS DAUGHTER AND STRUCK OFFICER BAER IN THE MOUTH WITH HIS PALM. OFFICER BAER SUSTAINED BODIDLY INJURY ON HIS FACE AS A RESULT OF THE ASSAULT.

BAEZA WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOR ASSAULT ON A PUBLIC SERVANT 3RD DEGREE FELONY. BAEZA WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE ECTOR COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER

ON AUGUST 5, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 7:40PM OFFICERS RESPONDED TO THE 500 BLOCK OF MCKENNEY IN REFERENCE TO A MEDICAL CALL. UPON ARRIVAL, OFFICERS MADE CONTACT WITH A MALE SUBJECT THAT APPEARED TPO BE DROWSY AND UNRESPONSIVE. THE MALE SUBJECT WAS IDENTIFIED AS DANNY RODRIGUEZ LUJAN, 50 YEARS OF AGE.

OFFICERS FOUND LUJAN TO BE IN POSSESSION OF A SYRINGE CONTAINING A DARK LIQUID SUBSTANCE. THE SUBSTANCE TESTED POSITIVE FOR HEROIN.

LUJAN WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF HEROIN AND DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, AND TRANSPORTED TO THE ECTOR COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER.

 

ON AUGUST 5, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:22PM, OFFICERS RESPONDED TO THE AREA OF CRANE AND CLEMENTS IN REFERENCE TO SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY.

DISPATCH ADVISED THAT A MALE SUBJECT NEAR SEVEN ELEVEN WAS ASKING PEOPLE IF THEY WOULD LIKE TO BUY DRUGS. UPON ARRIVAL, OFFICERS OBSERVED A MALE SUBJECT MATCHING THE SUSPECT’S DESCRIPTION. THE MALE SUBJECT IDENTIFIED AS ROBERT RIOS 75 YEARS OF AGE, WAS FOUND TO HAVE A FELONY PAROLE VIOLATION WARRANT FOR POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE.

ON AUGUST 5, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY  11:38PM, ODESSA POLICE WERE CONDUCTING A WALKTHROUGH AT CLUB TEQUILA, 211 EAST 8TH STREET. OFFICERS OBSERVED A MALE SUBJECT SNORTING A WHITE POWDERY SUBSTANCE. WHEN OFFICERS MADE CONTACT WITH THE MALE SUBJECT LATER IDENTIFIED AS MARIO LUJAN, 43 YEARS OF AGE, LUJAN ATTEMPTED TO THROW  THE BAG INTO THE BATHROOM STALL AND ATTEMPTED TO FLUSH IT DOWN THE TOILET. LUJAN REFUSED TO COMPLY WITH OFFICER’S COMMANDS, RESISTED ARREST, AND ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE OPD OFFICER INTO THE WALL, WHILE GRABBING FOR ITEMS AROUND THE OFFICER’S DUTY BELT.

 ODESSA POLICE ARRESTED AND CHARGED MARIO LUJAN WITH TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE “3RD DEGREE FELONY, POSSESSION OF COCAIN STATE JAIL FELONY, RESISTING ARREST CLASS A MISDEMEANOR,  PUBLIC  INTOXICATION CLASS C MISDEMEANOR AND GRABBING OPD OFFICER’S DUTY BELT.

MARIO LUJAN WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE ECTOR COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER.

ON JUNE 28, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 10:00PM AN UNDERCOVER OFFICER WITH THE ODESSA POLICE DEPARTMENT NARCOTICS UNIT ASKED A FEMALE SUBJECT IS THEY COULD BUY $50 WORTH OF COCAINE. OFFICERS MET THE FEMALE SUBJECT AT THE TRAVEL LODGE (3075 EAST HIGHWAY 80).

THE FEMALE SUBJECT WAS IDENTIFIED AS TEQUILA WILLIAMS, 29 YEARS OF AGE. OFFICERS ASKED WILLIAMS IF SHE HAD THE COCAINE, SHE STATED THAT IT WAS IN HER CIGARETTE CASE.

TEQUILA WILLIAMS WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF COCAINE, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE ECTOR COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER.

 ON AUGUST 8. 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:00PM, OPD OFFICERS RESPONDED TO 4800 GOLDER (JOY’S MOBILE HOME VILLA) IN REFERENCE TO A DISTURBANCE. UPON ARRIVAL OFFICERS MADE CONTACT WITH ONE OF THE INVOLVED PARTIES, IDENTIFIED AS DEMLER.

OFFICERS COULD SMELL AN ODOR OF MARIJUANA COMING FROM DEMLER’S RESIDENCE. OFFICERS FOUND JEANNIE DEMLER, 21 YEARS OF AGE, TO BE IN POSSESION OF APPROXIMATELY 13 GRAMS OF TETRAHYDROCANNABINOL.

JEANIE DEMLER WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH 13 GRAMS OF THC. DEMLER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE ECTOR COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER.

 

 

ON AUGUST 6, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 9:00PM OFFICERS RESPONDED TO MURPHY AND MUSKINGUM IN REFERENCE TO A CRASH. THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT A WHITE 2006 LINCOLN MARK RAN A RED LIGHT AND STRUCK A WHITE 2001 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER.

THE DRIVER OF THE LINCOLN WAS IDENTIFIED AS ABELINO TARIN 59 YEARS OF AGE. OFFICERS COULD SMELL A STRONG ODOR OF AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE COMING FROM HIS BREATH.
