ODESSA, TEXAS/JULY 5, 2019-ON JULY 4TH A T APPROXIMATELY 9:50PM ODESSA POLICE AND ODESSA FIRE RESCUE RESPONDED TO THE 1900 BLOCK OF EAST 8TH STREET IN REFERENCE TO A MAJOR CRASH INVOLVING A MOTORCYCLE. A BLACK FORD MUSTANG, OPERATED BY VANESSA CORTEZ, 17 YEARS OF AGE, OF ODESSA, WAS EXITING FROM A PRIVATE DRIVE AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN WESTBOUND IN THE 1900 BLOCK OF EAST 8TH. THE INVESTATION REVEALED THAT A HARLEY DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE, OPERATED BY JACOB HENGTGEN, 21 YEARS OF AGE, OF WISCONSIN WAS TRAVELING EASTBOUND IN THE 1900 BLOCK OF EAST OF 8TH AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED BEFORE STRIKING THE MUSTANG. HENGTGEN WAS TRANSPORTED TO MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL AND WAS LATER PRONOUNCED DECEASED BY MEDICAL PERSONNEL. NEXT OF KIN WERE NOTIFIED AS THERE WERE NO REPORTS OF ANY OTHER INJURIES. THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES. THE ODESSA POLICE IS ASKING FOR PUBLIC’S HELP WITH A HIT AND RUN INVESTIGATION. ON MAY 28TH AT APPROXIMATELY 1:55PM, ODESSA POLICE RESPONDED TO KENT KWIK LOCATED AT 4203 NORTH GRANDVIEW IN REFERENCE TO A HIT AND RUN. THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT A BLUE CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER BACKED INTO A FORD F-150 AND LEFT THE SCENE WITHOUT MEETING THE NECESSARY LEGAL REQUIREMENTS.
