DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS073021 SAN ANTONIO MAN DIES AFTER FATAL CRASH

Odessa, Texas/July 30, 2021-A San Antonio man is dead following a major crash that occurred this afternoon in Northwest Odessa.

On July 30, 2021 at approximately 1:41pm, Odessa Police responded to North County Road West and Sunset in reference to a major crash.

Investigation revealed that a Dodge Durango, operated by Jocelyn Flores, 24 years of age, of Odessa, was traveling northbound in the 1700 block of North County Road West.

A motorized scooter, operated by Jack William Ward II, 83 years of age, was attempting to cross eastbound across North County Road West before being struck by the Dodge Durango.

Ward was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Next of kin were notified. There were no reports of any other injuries and the investigation continues.

ODESSA, TEXAS/JULY 30, 2021-THE ODESSA POLICE DEPARTMENT IS CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING A MAJOR CRASH INVOLVING LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES IN THE 1700 BLOCK OF NORTH COUNTY ROAD WEST. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED BETWEEN 1:00PM AND 1:30PM AND MAY HAVE INVOLVED A SMALL SCOOTER. WITNESSES AT A RESTAURANT NEAR THE ACCIDENT SITE SAID, THEY SAW A MAN LAYING IN THE STREET. ECTOR COUNTY ISD IS STILL EXPERIENCING A TEACHER SHORTAGE. IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 150 TEACHING POSITIONS ARE STILL AVAILABLE.
