ODESSA, TEXAS/AUGUST 29, 2021-THE CHURCHES OF SOUTH ODESSA HOSTED THE 9TH ANNUAL “ANGEL DRIVEN” GOLF TOURNAMENT AT RATLIFF RANCH. THE PURPOSE OF THE ANNUAL TOUNAMENT IS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR INFRUSTRUCTION PROJECTS AT ST. JOSEPH’S AND ST. ANTHONY CATHOLIC CHURCHES IN ODESSA.

34 TEAMS, 136 PLAYERS AND 12 SPONSORS PARTICIPATED IN THE “ANGEL DRIVEN” TOURNAMENT.

MITCHELL DOBBYN, PROFESSIONAL GOLFER AND WORLD LONG-DRIVE CHAMPIONIONSHIP FINALIST, WAS FEATURED AT THE TOURNAMENT TO HELP RAISE ADDITONAL FUNDS FOR ST. JOSEPH AND ST. ANTHONY CATHOLIC CHURCHES.

ODESSA, TEXAS/AUGUST 28, 2021-ECTOR COUNTY ISD HELD A SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 26TH, TO VOTE ON A RESOLUTION TO IMPLEMENT A TEMPORARY MASK MANDATE FOR STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND STAFF. APPROXIMATELY 32 PERSONS VOICED THEIR OPINIONS FOR OR AGAINST THE TEMPORARY MASK MANDATE DURING THE PUBLIC HEARING PORTION OF THE MEETING.

A STUDENT AT PERMIAN HIGH SCHOOL EXPRESSED HIS FEAR TO THE ECISD SCHOOL BOARD OF BEING IN SCHOOL WITH OTHER STUDENTS WHO HAVE COVID.

ECTOR COUNTY ISD APPROVED A MASK REQUIREMENT SHORTLY AFTER THE SCHOOL BOARD RETURNED FROM EXECUTIVE SESSION. HOWEVER, DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 26TH, THE TEXAS SUPREME COURT SIDED WITH TEXAS GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT’S EXECUTIVE ORDER BANNING MASK MANDATES IN TEXAS SCHOOL DISTRICTS.

ECTOR COUNTY ISD IS WORKING WITH LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS IN THE TEXAS HOUSE AND SENATE TO WRITE LEGISLATION THAT WOULD EMPOWER THE DISTRICT TO MAKE DECISIONS THAT AFFECT THE LOCAL SCHOOLS.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(082221C)MIDLAND POLICE INVESTIGATE FATALITY CRASH ONE DECEASED

Midland, Texas/August 22, 2021-On Sunday, August 22, 2021, at 2:52AM, Officers with the Midland Police Department and the Midland Fire Department responded to the intersection of S Garfield St and W Wall St in reference to a single vehicle crash. A blue 2017 Ford Mustang was located at the southwest corner of the intersection. A passenger of the vehicle a 29-year-old male, was located and pronounced dead on scene. The driver, a 31 year-old-male, fled the scene on foot.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle was travelling southbound on Andrews Hwy at a high rate of speed. It passed through the intersection and struck the traffic light pole head on which split the vehicle in half. The driver was located west of the crash scene and was taken into custody. Charges are pending.

Midland Police have no additional information at this time.
