CITY OF MIDLAND MAYOR JERRY MORALES AND RACHEL STONE OF THE MIDLAND HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WERE RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO HISPANIC CULTURE. REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CITY OF ODESSA AND COUNTY COMMISSIONER PRECINCT 4, ARMANDO RODRIQUEZ AND ARNULFO MARTINEZ OF THE ODESSA HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WERE AT THE VAQUERO BREAKFAST. DR. SCOTT MURI, SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS AT ECISD PRESENTED THE VISIONARY AWARD IN EDUCATION TO ONE OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT’S HISPANIC PRINCIPLES. (DR. SCOTT MURI, SUPERINTENDENT-ECTOR COUNTY ISD) THE BREAKFAST WAS PROVIDED BY LA MARGARITA MEXICAN FOOD RESTURANT LOCATED IN SOUTH ODESSA. TOWARDS THE END OF THE HISPANIC HERITAGE ODESSA VAQUERO BREAKFAST, FORMER AMBASSADORS OF THE ORGANIZATION WERE PRESENTED TO THE GUESTS AT THE EVENT. ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH, PORRAS PRODUCTIONS PRESENTED THE 16TH OF SEPTEMBER PARADE. THE PARADE BEGAN AT 17TH AND GRANT A FEATURED FLOATS, STORE MASCOTS, MOTORCYCLES,CARS AND HORSES. PARADE FLOAT WINNERS WERE UNA MANO AMIGA AND FABELA’S MUSIC, ALEX ARMENDARIZ WON FIRST PLACE FOR BEST DECORATED CAR, VICTOR SANCHEZ, FIRST PLACE WINNER FOR BEST HORSE, AND JOEL ZUBIATE RECEIVED FIRST PLAYCE FOR BEST MOTORCYCLE. DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(091019)-MIDLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE 8% RAISES

Midland, Texas/September 10, 2019-During the regular scheduled Midland County Commissioners meeting, the court listened to emotional pleas from officers with the Midland County Sheriff’s Office for the need of pay raises.

Midland County Commissioner precinct 4, Randy Prude acknowledged the need for pay raises for the officers, but the court has to consider the individual tax payer and those residents living in Midland County that are onfixed income.

Officers with the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, as well as other officers of the court are wanting an 8% raise, rather than a one time $4 thousand dollar bonus.

Midland County Commissioner precinct 3,Luis Sanchez discovered during the discussion, that there was only a $1.4 million dollar difference between the one time $4 thousand dollar bonus and the 8% raise.

Sgt. Margarita Strahan, an investigator with the Midland County Sheriff’s Office was overjoyed with the decision by the Midland county Commissioners Court to approve the 8% raise.
