LUBBOCK, TEXAS/OCTOBER 23, 2017 – DURING THE 85TH SESSION OF THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE, REPRESENTATIVE DUSTIN BURROWS(HD-83) AUTHORED A BILL TO CREATE AN “OMBUDSMAN” POSITION WITHIN THE TEXAS OFFICE OF INJURED EMPLOYEE COUNSEL. GOVERNOR ABBOTT SIGNED THE BILL IN AUGUST.

INJURED LAW ENFORCEMENT AND FIRST RESPONDERS NOW HAVE A SPECIFIC POINT OF CONTACT WHEN NAVIGATING THE OFTEN COMPLEX AND CHALLENGING STATE WORKERS COMPENSATION PROCESS.

REPRESENTATIVE BURROWS INTRODUCED THE NEWLY-DESIGNATED OMBUDSMAN OFFICIAL WITH FIRST RESPONDER PERSONNEL FROM AROUND THE STATE, AS WELL AS INJURED LAW ENFORCEMENT AND EMS PERSONNEL AND THEIR FAMILIES.
