DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS-NEWS BRIEF (110217)-ASSAULT OF AN ELDERLY, 2 THEFTS INVESTIGATIONS, ASSAULT WITH DEADLY WEAPON

ODESSA/ECTOR COUNTY, TEXAS/NOVEMBER 02, 2017 – ON AUGUST 25, 2017, ODESSA POLICE RESPONDED TO THE 3600 BLOCK OF MERRILL IN FREFERENCE TO AN ASSAULT. OFFICERS MADE CONTACT WITH A 71-YEAR-OLD FEMALE, WHO ADVISED OFFICERS THAT SHE HAD BEEN ASSAULTED BY HER GRANDSON, IDENTIFIED AS CHRISTOPHER SHANE CHANDLER, 26-YEARS OF AGE.

CHANDLER BECAME UPSET WITH HIS GRANDMOTHER, BECAUSE SHE WOULD NOT ALLOW ONE OF HIS FRIENDS TO ENTER THE RESIDENCE. CHANDLER PICKED UP A DECROATIVE LEMON AND THREW IT AT HIS GRANDMOTHER, STRICKING HER ON THE LEFT FOREARM.

CHANDLER, THEN GRABBED HER BY HER THROAT AND PINNED HER DOWN ON TO THE COUCH RESTRICTING HER BREATHING. HE THEN GRABBED THE PHONE OUT OF HIS GRANDMOTHER’S HANDS, WHILE SHE WAS ATTEMPTING TO CALL POLICE. CHANDLER THREW THE PHONE AGAINST THE WALL CAUSING IT TO COME APART AND RENDERING THE PHONE INOPERABLE.

ODESSA POLICE CHARGED CHRISTOPHER SHANE CHANDLER WITH INJURY TO AN ELDERLY (FAMILY VIOLENCE) “3RD DEGREE FELONY” AND INTERFERENCE WITH AN EMERGENCY TELEPHONE CALL “CLASS A MISDEMEANOR”

ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2017 TWO SUSPECTS ENTERED CHAMPS SPORTS STORE, AND STOLE 20 SHIRTS. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IN REFERENCE TO THE IDENTITY OF BOTH SUBJECTS CONTACT DETECTIVE L GOODSON AT 432-335-4942 OR ODESSA CRIME STOPPERS AT 432-333-TIPS AND REFERENCE CASE #17-24760.

ON SUNDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 29, 2017, AT APPROXIMATLEY 6:15PM, ECTOR COUNTY DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO A STABBING VICTIM AT THE JC PLAYGROUND RACE TRACK.

WITNESS TOLD OFFICERS THAT WILLIAM POGUE, 52-YEARS-OF-AGE HAD STABBED THE VICTIM, IDENTIFED AS ONESIMO A. RIOS, 63-YEARS-OF-AGE, AFTER THE TWO MEN HAD A PHYSCIAL ALTERCATION INVOLVING A KNIFE WITH ANOTHER SUBJECT. POGUE TOLD OFFICERS HE DID NOT OWN A KNIFE.

THE VICTIM WAS TRANSPORTED TO MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL FOR MULTIPLE STAB WOUNDS, AND WAS LISTED IN STABLE CONDITION BY MCH.

POGUE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AND CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON, “FELONY 2”.

POGUE WAS BOOKED AND RELEASED ON OCTOBER 30, 2017 ON A $30,000 DOLLAR BOND. THE INVESTIAGTION CONTINUES.
