(ARMANDO RODRIGUEZ, ECTOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER, PCT 4)

“I THINK NOW THIS BROUGHT MORE OPENLY TO THE PUBLIC, AND BROUGHT OPENLY TO ALL THE COMMISSIONERS IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED, BUT IT’S UP TO THE JUDGE TO SEE WHAT HE WANTS TO DO, AND IF ANYTHING IS NOT GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, I WILL BRING IT UP TO BE DISCUSSED IN CLOSED SESSION.”

(DOROTHY HALL-JENKINS, ODESSA RESIDENT SINCE 1960)

“WELL, IN THE FIRST PLACE, WE’RE LOSING SO MUCH TRUST IN THE SYSTEM, BECAUSE, THEY’VE DONE SO MANY THINGS THAT WAS NOT CORRECT OR SHOULD’NT BE DONE, AND WE DON’T WANT THE CENTERS TO BE CLOSED.”

MRS. JENKINS ALSO TOLD COMMISSIONERS THAT SHE IS CONCERED WITH THE LACK OF CONSISTENCY IN THEY WAY THE COUNTY IS HIRING WORKERS AT THE SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTERS.

(DOROTHY HALL-JENKINS, ODESSA RESIDENT SINCE 1960)

“THEY’RE TAKING OUR GOOD WORKERS, AND GETTING RID OF THEM. THEY HIRE ONE IN THREE MONTHS AND TURN AROUND AND GET RID OF SOMEBODY THE NEXT MONTHS. THAT DOESN’T SEEM FAIR.”

ECTOR COUNTY HAS HAD TO MAKE BUDGET CUTS DUE TO A SHORTFALL IN COUNTY TAX REVENUES. SOME OF THE CUTS INCLUDE TERMINATING EMPLOYMENT FOR MANY COUNTY EMPLOYEES. IN EARLY SEPTEMBER, ECTOR COUNTY APPROVED A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE THAT WILL GO IN EFFECT IN OCTOBER 2017
