DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(012318) – MAJOR CRASH ON YUKON ROAD & ST. LOUIS

ODESSA, TEXAS/JANUARY 23, 2018 – ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 23RD AT APPROXIMATELY 8:18AM, ODESSA POLICE AND ODESSA FIRE RESCUE RESPONDED TO THE 1400 BLOCK OF EAST YUKON IN REFERENCE TO A MAJOR CRASH.

A GRAY BUICK VERANO, OPERATED BY ANNA PAREDES, 54 YEARS OF AGE, WAS STOPPED FACING EAST ON YUKON ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT INTO THE ALDTERNATIVE EDUCATION CENTER PARKING LOT. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT A NISSAN XTERRA, OPERTATED BY A 16-YEAR-OLD FEMALE, WAS TRAVELING EASTBOUND AT THE 1400 BLOCK OF YUKON, WHEN THE NISSAN XTERRA STRUCK THE GRAY BUICK VERANO CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE PUSHED INTO THE WESTBOUND LANE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, WHERE A GRAY DODGE DURANGO, OPERTATED BY ALBERT MARTINEZ, 19-YEARS-OF-AGE STRUCK THE GRAY BUICK VERANO.

“ANNA PAREDES, SHE WAS THE VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED. THAT WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT INTO THE ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION CENTER. SHE WAS TRANSPORTED TO MEDICAL CENTER AND LATER PASSED AWAY.”

KAYLEE INGRAM, WHO LIVES AROUND YUKON ROAD AND EL PASO, SAYS THAT THE CITY OF ODESSA HAS TO DO SOMETHING TO MAKE YUKON ROAD SAFER.

“I THINK THEY SHOULD EXPAND THE ROAD A LITTLE BIT, A LITTLE BIT WIDER, PUTTING IN SOME TURNING LANES. SOMETHING TO AVOID SUCH CHAOS OUT HERE. LIKE I SAID, THERE ARE NO TURNING LANES; YOU’RE KIND OF RISKING IT, IF YOU’RE TRYING TO TURN ANYWHERE AROUND HERE.”

THE 16-YEAR-OLD AND ALBERT MARTINEZ WERE BOTH TRANSPORTED TO MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL WITH NON-LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES. NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.
