DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(021221)-TRAVIS ZAVAL HOLD READING DRIVE THRU PARADE

ODESSA, TEXAS/FEBRUARY 12, 2021-TRAVIS AND ZAVALA ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS HELD A DRIVE THRU READING PARADE ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH, AT DISMISAL TIME. STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO DRESS UP AS THEIR FAVORITE STORY BOOK CHARACTER LIKE: “CAT IN THE HAT”, A MOUSE, “CURIOUS GEORGE”. THE PURPOSE OF THE READING PARADE EVENT IS TO ENCOURAGE CHILDREN TO READ MORE AND FOR PARENTS TO WORK WITH THEIR CHILD ON READING STRATEGIES.

BILINGUAL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE READING PARADE BY CHOOSING A FAVORITE STORY BOOK IN SPANISH OR IN ENGLISH.

THE READING GOALS ARE THE SAME FOR THOSE STUDENTS THAT ARE IN THE SPECIAL EDUCATION CLASSES. TEACHERS USE VARIOUS TECHNIQUES TO HELP THE STUDENTS ACHIEVE THEIR READING GOALS.

STUDENTS TOOK HOME PACKETS OF INFORMATION THAT DESCRIBE THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN PARENTS, STUDENTS AND TEACHERS, PARENT ENGAGEMENT POLCY AND PRACTICES AND HOW TO GET READ-AT-HOME KITS.
