DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(031118=B) OSCAR ROMERO ARRESTED-SHOOTING INVESTIGATION UPDATE

ODESSA, TEXAS/MARCH 11, 2018 – ON MARCH 7TH AT APPROXIMATELY 5:54PM, ODESSA POLICE RESPONDED TO THE 1400 BLOCK OF NORTH ADAMS IN REFERENCE TO AN ASSAULT VICTIM. OFFICERS MADE CONTACT WITH THE 44-YEAR-OLD COMPLAINANT WHO TOLD OFFICERS THAT SHE HAD BEEN ASSAULTED BY HER SON, IDENTIFIED AS OSCAR ROMERO, 23-YEARS-OF-AGE. AN OPD OFFICER MADE CONTACT WITH ROMERO; ROMERO FLIPPED OFF THE OFFICER WITH HIS MIDDLE FINGER, THEN RAN WESTBOUND INTO AN ALLEY. ROMERO WAS LOCATED AT CROCKET JUNIOR HIGH. OFFICERS MADE CONTACT WITH ROMERO A SECOND TIME AS HE ATTEMPED TO CLIMB OVER A CHAIN LINK FENCE. ROMERO WAS CAUGHT AND TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. WHILE ROMERO WAS BEING TRANSPORTED, HE TREATENED TO KILL ONE OF THE OPD OFFICERS BY STATING “I’M GOING TO SHOOT HIM IN THE HEAD, THEN I’M JUST GOING TO WALK AWAY. I CAN’T WAIT TO GET A GUN.’ OCAR ROMERO IS CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS OF RETALIATION ‘FELONY 3”, TWO COUNTS OF EVADING ARREST “MISDEMEANOR A”, AND ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY INJURY (FAMILY VIOLENCE). UPDATE – ODESSA, TEXAS/MARCH 11, 2018 – ON FRIDAY, MARCH 9TH AT APPROXIMATELY 11:56AM ODESSA POLICE RESPONDED TO THE 1300 BLOCK OF EIDSON IN REFERENCE TO A GUNSHOT VICTIM. DURING THE INVESTIGATION IT WAS REVEALED THAT TWO VEHICLES WERE TRAVELING ON EIDOSN WHEN THE OCCUPANTS BEGAN SHOOTING AT TWO MALE SUBJECTS, WHO WERE STANDING OUTSIDE. THE TWO MALE SUBJECTS WERE IDENTIFIED AS NATHAN STEPHENS, 18-YEARS-OF-AGE AND DESMOND TUGGLE, 19-YEARS-OF-AGE. STEPHENS WAS SHOT ONE TIME IN THE ABDOMEN AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS BODILY INJURY. TUGGLE SUSTAINED A MINOR INJURY TO HIS LEFT HAND AS A RESULT OF THE INCIDENT. BOTH SUSPECT VEHICLES FLED THE SCENE BEFOR POLICE ARRIVED. THE VEHICLES ARE DESCRIBED AS BEING A BLACK CHEVROLET TRUCK AND A BLACK PONTIAC SUNFIRE. THERE WERE NO REPORTS OF ANY OTHER INJURIES AND THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.
