DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(051719)-TEXAS POLICE MEMORIAL SERVICE 2018-2019

ODESSA, TEXAS/MAY 17, 2019-THE ODESSA POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE ECTOR COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE ALONG WITH THE MIDLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE MIDLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE HELD THE TEXAS MEMORIAL SERVICES AT SUNSET MEMORIAL GARDENS AND FUNERAL HOME. THIS SOLEMN AND SACRED EVENT HONORS THE OFFICERS THAT HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES TO PROTECT AND SERVE OTHERS. (POLICE CHIEF MICHAEL GERKE, ODESSA POLICE DEPARTMENT) POLICE OFFICERS FROM LUBBOCK AND FROM AROUND THE STATE OF TEXAS WERE PRESENT. COMMUNITY LEADERS AND RESIDENTS OF MIDLAND AND ODESSA WERE AT THE CEREMONY. AN ECTOR COUNTY PROCLAMATION WAS DILIVERED BY SHERIFF MIKE GRIFF’S AND THE CITY OF ODESA PROCLAMATION WAS GIVEN BY MAYOR DAVID TURNER. OFFICERS FROM THE ODESSA POLICE DEPARTMENT AND MIDLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE PLACED YELLOW ROSES ON A WREATH DURING THE END OF WATCH ROLE CALL HONORING: SHERIFF’D DEPUTY THAD WEST, OPD CORPORAL GORDON “G.T.” TOAL, OPD OFFICER SCOTT SMITH, PATROLMAN RODNEY KENDRICKS, OPD CORPORAL ARLIE JONES, OPD CORPORAL JOHN GARDNER, OPD CORPORAL ABEL MARQUEZ, MIDLAN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE CORPORAL NICHEL NAYLOR, MIDLAND POLICE OFFICER NATHAN HEIDELBERG.
