ODESSA, TEXAS/JUNE 12, 2018 – ON MONDAY, JUNE 11TH THE ODESSA FIRE RESCUE AND THE ODESSA FIRE RESCUE HONORGUARD HELD A SPECIAL PROCESSION IN HONOR OF FALLEN WEATHERFORD FIREFIGHTER ANDY LOLLER. (DAVID DILBECK, CAPTAIN-ODESSA FIRE RESCUE HONORGUARD) “THERE’S A CERTAIN TRADITIONS THAT WE DO IN THE FIRE SERVICE, AND WE TRY TO MAKE SURE THAT’S DONE FOR THEM, JUST LIKE WE WOULD WANT FOR OURSELVES.” ANDY LOLLER SUFFERED A HEART ATTACK SUNDAY, JUNE 10TH IN THE LINE OF DUTY WHILE BATTLING FIRES IN THE DAVIS MOUNTAINS. LOLLER WAS AIR-LIFTED FROM THE FIRE SCENE AND TRANSPORTED TO MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL, WHERE HE PASSED AWAY IN FLIGHT. (CHIEF JOHN ALVAREZ, ODESSA FIRE RESCUE, ODESSA, TEXAS) “HE PUT HIS LIFE ON THE LINE FOR HELPING OUT ON THOSE FIRES OUT OF FORT DAVIS AND EVERYTHING. SO, YES, ABSOLUTELY THE COMMUNITY IS ALWAYS GONNA PULL FOR ANY FIRST RESPONDER THAT HAS BEEN INJURED OR KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY.” APPROXIMATELY 15 FIRE FIGHTING DEPARTMENTS FROM WEST AND EAST TEXAS WERE PRESENT FOR THE PROCESSION TO TARRANT COUNTY. THE ODESSA POLICE DEPARTMENT TRAFFIC UNIT ASSISTED WITH ESCORTING ANDY LOLLER FROM MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL TO I-20. (DAVID DILBECK, CAPTAIN-ODESSA FIRE RESCUE HONORGUARD) “THERE WILL BE A FIRE FIGHTERS POSITION AT EVERY OVERPASS BETWEEN HERE AND TARRANT COUNTY OFFERING THEIR CONDOLENCES AND RESPECTS TO THE FAMILY.” ODESSA FIRE RESCUE EXTENDED A HELPING HAND WITH ACCOMMODATIONS FOR THE VISITING FIRE CHIEF FROM WEATHERFORD AND FIREFIGHTERS OF THE TEXAS INTRASTATE FIRE MUTUAL AID SYSTEM STRIKE FORCE, ALSO KNOWN AS TIFMAS.
