ODESSA, TEXAS/JULY 2, 2018 – ON MONDAY, JULY 2ND AT APPROXIMATELY 2:57AM, ODESSA POLICE AND ODESSA FIRE RESCUE RESPONDED TO 8TH AND HARLESS IN REFERENCE TO A MEDICAL CALL. A FEMALE HAD POSSIBLY FALLEN OUT OF A RED JEEP AND WAS LAYING ON THE ROAD COVERED IN BLOOD. OFFICERS MADE CONTACT WITH A 47-YEAR-OLD FEMALE, IDENTIFIED AS REBECA CARRASCO SALGADO OF MIDLAND, WHO AS TRANSPORTED TO MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS BODILY INJURY. OTHER OFFICERS RESPONDING TO THE SCENE SAW A RED 2016 JEEP TRAVELING EASTBOUND ON 16TH STREET. OFFICERS ACTIVATED EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND SIRENS AND ATTEMPTED TO CONDUCT A TRAFFIC STOP, BUT THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE REFUSED TO STOP. THE RED JEEP STOPPED NEAR 15TH AND MACARTHUR AND THE DRIVER WAS IDENTIFIED AS LUIS ORTEGA ANZURES. OFFICERS COULD SMELL A STRONG ODOR OF AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. ANZURES HAD FIVE PRIOR DWI CONVICTIONS, ENHANCING THE CHARGE TO A THIRD DEGREE FELONY. LUIS ORTEGA ANZURES WAS CHARGED AND ARRESTED FOR DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED 3RD OR MORE “3RD DEGREE FELONY” AND EVADING ARREST WITH A MOTOR VEHICLE “3RD DEGREE FELONY”. ANZURES WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE ECTOR COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER. REBECA CARRASCO SALGADO IS LISTED IN SERIOUS CONDITION. THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.
