ODESSA, TEXAS/OCTOBER 21, 2019-ECISD KICKED OFF THE ANNUAL RED RIBBON WEEK WITH A PEP RALLY ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 21st AT THE ECISD ADMINISTRATION BUILDING. (CPL. STEVE LESEUER, PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER-ODESSA POLICE DEPARTMENT) THE RALLY FEATURED THE CHOIR FROM BOWIE MIDDLE SCHOOL, COMENTARY FROM ECISD POLICE AND PERFORMANCES BY THE PERMIAN HIGH SCHOOL DRUM SQUAD AND DANCE ROUTINES FROM THE PHS PAWS. SCOTT MURI, SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS AT ECISD) RED RIBBON WEEK BEGAN IN 1985 TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF DEA AGENT ENRIQUE “KIKI” CAMARENA, WHO WAS TORTURED AND KILLED WHILE WORKING UNDERCOVER IN MEXICO EXPOSING DRUG CARTELS. RED RIBBON WEEK IS A REMINDER TO PARENTS AND TO THE COMMUNITY OF THE DESTRUCTIVE POWER OF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL ON CHILDREN, TEENAGERS AND FAMILIES.
