(LUIS TREJO FUENTES, ART/EDUCATOR-PERMIAN HIGH SCHOOL) “WE ARE GOING TO TAKE OVER THE ACCOUNT OF THE BONTANICAL GARDENS. AH, PERMIAN HAS THESE THIS GARDEN THAT WAS BUILT SEVERAL YEARS AGO. YOU KNOW, VERY BEAUTIFUL GARDENS. AH, BUT THEY’VE BEEN, OVER THE YEARS, THEY’VE BEEN KIND’VE LEFT ON THEIR OWN. SO, WHAT WE’RE GOING TO DO IS WE’RE GOING TO BE TAKING OVER THIS ACCOUNT, WE’RE GOING TO BE BRINGING THE GARDEN BACK TO IT’S KIND OF FORMER GLORY. WE’RE GONNA BE REBUILDING ALOT OF THINGS. WE’RE GOING TO BE REPLANTING, WE’RE GONNA BE BRING IT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS.” STUDENTS WILL BE CREATING SCULPTURES THAT WILL BE PLACED IN THE BOTANICAL GARDEN TO BEAUTIFY THE LOCATION. S PROFESSIONAL ARTIST WILL BECSOLICITED TO CONTRIBUTE THEIR WORKS OF ART FOR THE GARDEN. (LUIS TREJO FUENTES, ART/EDUCATOR-PERMIAN HIGH SCHOOL) “BUT WE’RE GONNA TURN IT INTO A SCULPTURE GARDEN. SO, WHAT WE’RE GONNA DO IS, NOT ONLY ARE THE KIDS GOING TO BE CREATING SCULPTURES FOR THE GARDEN ITSELF, BUT WE’RE ALSO WORKING ON A PROGRAM INWHICH BE BRINGING IN PROFESSIONAL SCULPTERS, PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS, HAVE THEM COME IN AND DONATE WORKS TO THE GARDEN. AND THEY’LL BE PERMANENT INSTALLATIONS.” THE ART STUDENTS ARE EXCITED ABOUT BRINGING THE PERMIAN HIGH SCHOOL BOTANICAL GARDEN BACK TO LIFE. (ALYSSA ELLIOT, STUDENT/JUNIOR, PERMIAN HIGH SCHOOL) “I WOULD LIKE TO DE-WEED IT. AND THERE’S A LITTLE AREA IN IT CALLED “ODESSA AREA” I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE THAT MORE VIBRANT. I’D LIKE TO PUT SOME OF THE FLOWERS BELOW TO MAKE THEM GROW. AND NOT SHOP DOWN, BUT TRIM SOME OF THE TREES. WHERE, THERE MAY BE A THORN BUSH THAT’S OVER GROWN. I’D LIKE TO TAKE CARE OF THAT AND TRIM IT UP A LITTLE, BUT MAKE IT LOOK NICE, BUT NATURAL AT THE SAME TIME, AND ALSO GIVE IT LIFE.” IF YOU’RE A PROFESSIONAL SCULPTOR OR AN ARTIST AND WOULD LIKE TO HELP BEAUTIFY THE BOTANICAL GARDEN, CONTACT ART TEACHER, LUIS TREJO FUENTS AT PERMIAN HIGH SCHOOL FOR DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS, DANNY BARRERA
