SO, PART OF OUR GOAL AT ‘DOWNTOWN ODESSA’ IS TO BRING PEOPLE DOWNTOWN, AND WE THAT THROUGH EVENTS LIKE: THE ICE SKATING RINK THAT WE’LL HAVE HERE ALL MONTH. EVENTS LIKE WINTERFEST WHICH YOU WILL SEE THIS WEEKEND. SO, THERE’S NOTHING WET, NOTHING COLD ABOUT IT. SYNTHETIC ICE IS ACTUALLY SAFER THAN REAL ICE, IN THE FACT THAT WHEN YOU HIT IT’S NOT AS HARD, THERE’S A LITTLE BIT OF ‘GIVE’ A LITTLE BIT OF ‘BOUNCE’ TO IT. AND ALSO, WHEN YOU HIT THE SYNTHETIC ICE, YOU’RE NOT GOING TO HAVE THOSE LITTLE ICE BURNS THAT YOU GET WHEN YOU GO ICE SKATING ON TRUE ICE.” OVER 200 PEOPLE CAME OUT AND STOOD IN LINE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FREE SKATE NIGHT. (KARINA ALVAREZ, VISITOR TO ICE SKATING EVENT) (ROXANNE ALVAREZ, VISITOR TO ICE SKATING EVENT) “IT WAS SO MUCH FUN GETTING A CHANCE TO SPEND TIME, QUALITY TIME. AND, WE DIDN’T FALL, RIGHT? I’M EXCITED, I’M NEVER GONNA FALL DOWN AND HURT MYSELF” ONE PRE-TEEN ENJOYED THE EXPERIENCE, BUT WAS A LITTLE DISAPOINTED.
